Food Hampers

At Spirit Aid we don’t think families and children in our community should have to face going hungry.

Spirit Aid provides food hampers to people in crisis who need a quick and non-judgemental response to their food needs.

Every day people of the week in Scotland ordinary decent families go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income, these things are often out of the family’s control.

It’s amazing how much a simple food hamper can make such a difference and give such relief, Spirit Aid and the work we do makes a big difference to families at a critical time.

Spirit Aid works with a wide range of care professionals such as doctors, health visitors, social workers, and schools to identify people in crisis offer them speedy and practical help.

Fuel Poverty

Spirit Aid are delighted to work in partnership with The Wise Group in our efforts to support the vulnerable and needy in our communities who face fuel poverty.

The Wise Group

Energy advice and advocacy

We deliver free, impartial energy advice and advocacy support to help people in the UK stay in control of their energy bills and keep warm and well at home.

Our mentoring approach to supporting people and families educates and empowers and results in sustainable outcomes.

How we use energy at home is a key driver of fuel poverty. Now more than ever, we are convinced of the importance of delivering home energy advice through a relationship-based approach. We also contribute to national efforts to tackle fuel.

Our energy advice drives behaviour change once home energy efficiency measures have been installed.

We provide home energy advice to people across the UK, helping them to heat their homes at a cost they can afford.  Through our support, customers are able to reduce their costs, improve their energy efficiency and learn hints and tips on how best to use their home energy.  Our team can also look into any funding and discounts available, such as the Warm Home Discount, and offer expert support to anyone facing repayment of outstanding energy debt.

Although we are able to carry out only limited home visits at this time, we continue to support people through Covid-19 through our excellent telephone and online service.

If you have a prepayment meter and are worried about credit running low, or if you have run out of credit, we can help with expert advice and support. Our services are open to anyone who needs our help, contact patrick@185.216.77.122

What you can do to help

Spirit Aid wouldn’t be able to carry out all of its essential work without the help of our amazing volunteers – from packing to delivering food hampers.

Please get in touch if you would like to volunteer with us!

If you would like to help, you can either donate to our Just Giving page or donate food products such as non-perishable foods e.g. tins/cans of food.

Volunteers Needed

We deliver food hampers 52 weeks of the year in the West of Scotland.

However, we need more volunteer drivers who would be able to pick up from our store in Central Glasgow and deliver the hampers to families in need.

Thursday is the normal delivery day.

We don’t expect volunteers to be available every week, we have a pool of drivers.

Our volunteers are very discreet and uphold high levels of confidentiality.
